UAE Federal National Council, insists Palestinian issue is top Arab cause

Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, stated that the Palestinian issue remains the leading Arab cause, despite all internal and external concerns.

The Palestinian cause is going through a historic juncture, and is facing a fateful challenge that requires solidarity, cooperation and serious work to ensure unity and strengthen Arab solidarity, she added, while highlighting the UAE’s historic efforts to support the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, with its capital in East Jerusalem.

She made this statement on 3rd March, 2019, during her participation in the 29th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union that was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, under the theme, “Jerusalem is the Eternal Capital of Palestine,” with the attendance of speakers of Arab parliaments and councils.

“We urgently need to establish the values and principles of tolerance and human fraternity, which were included in the ‘Human Fraternity Document,’ a part of the constitutions of our parliamentary institutions, civil society institutions, schools and universities, and youth, family and childhood institutions,” Dr. Al Qubaisi said.

She added that many Arab countries are still suffering from terrorism and extremism, and the epidemic of sectarian militias funded by regional forces, while destroying Daesh and Al Qaeda in Syria and Iraq represents a victory of the will of life of the Arab people, while expressing her hope for the defeat of terrorism in Yemen.

Al Qubaisi added that the UAE, due to the wisdom of the wise leadership, is preparing for the future and has succeeded in entering the third millennium.

She stressed that affirming the sovereignty of the UAE over the three islands – Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa -, occupied by Iran, remains an absolute priority, while asserting the necessity of ending Iran’s occupation through a peaceful settlement, whether through direct negotiations or international arbitration.

Al Qubaisi noted that the Houthi militias are still evading political solutions to end the Yemeni crisis and the suffering of the Yemeni people.
