THE LEVANT NEWS — The Lebanese Army Thursday continued raids on Syrian makeshift camp sites in the eastern city of Baalbek, arresting 20 individuals for lack of identity papers.
A security source told The Daily Star the arrests were made during a morning raid on tents at a makeshift settlement in Iaat, west of Baalbek.
The Lebanese Army Wednesday arrested seven Syrians and seized two pickup trucks during similar raids on a Syrian encampment in Hawsh al-Arab, southeast of Baalbek.
Lebanon has beefed up security following last week’s twin suicide bomb attack that left 46 people killed and more than 200 wounded in the Beirut southern suburb of Burj al-Barajneh.
