New IRENA Director General in UAE

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received on Thursday Francesco La Camera, the newly appointed Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

The meeting, held at the Ministry’s Diwan in Abu Dhabi, touched on IRENA’s plans and programmes, as well as means to accelerate its performance in the light of the fast growing use of clean energy worldwide.

Sheikh Abdullah welcomed Francesco La Camera and congratulated him on his new post.

He renewed UAE’s support to IRENA and to the efforts aimed at promoting uses of renewable energy in a way that will contribute to achieving sustainable development across all communities.

Francesco La Camera praised UAE’s support to IRENA, which enables it to efficiently carry out its mandate.

The meeting was attended by Nawal Al Hosani, UAE’s Permanent Representative to IRENA.
