Lebanese fighting with ISIS killed in Syria

THE LEVANT NEWS — BEIRUT: A Lebanese national fighting alongside ISIS in Syria was said to be killed in the neighboring country, media reports said Saturday.

“Louay Al-Rifai, from the neighborhood of Bab al-Tabbaneh in the northern city of Tripoli, was killed in battles in Syria,” reported Facebook page Bab al-Tabbaneh news.

The news broke Saturday morning and was circulated over social networks by various media outlets.

However, it’s not clear where the alleged ISIS member was killed.

A large number of people from north Lebanon are believed to have gone missing in recent months and are suspected to have joined extremist groups, according to security sources.

Despite officially adopting in 2011 a policy of dissociation toward the conflict in Syria, many Lebanese groups and citizens have headed to the neighboring country to join the battles.
