Federal National Council approves UAE energy recommendations

The Federal National Council, FNC, Technical, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs Committee approved its report on the recommendations on the policy of the Ministry of Energy, during its meeting today at the headquarters of the FNC General Secretariat in Dubai, chaired by Mohammed Ali Al Kammali, Committee Chairman.

The committee discussed the topics through three pillars, which are the ministry’s policy related to reinforcing renewable energy security, the challenge facing the community in accessing renewable energy, and projects and investments in the renewable energy sector.

Afraa Rashid Al Basti, Committee Moderator, said that the committee today discussed the report and approved its recommendations, after making amendments that were discussed during the meeting. She added that the committee also discussed its plans, which include holding meetings with relevant authorities and performing field visits to specialist institutions and authorities in the renewable energy sector. The committee was briefed about the efforts of relevant authorities in finding solutions to recycling waste and adopting renewable energy, she added.

The committee also reviewed technical studies related to the services provided by telecom companies, as well as the Emiratisation of telecom companies, the quality of services provided to the public, service prices, profits and losses, social responsibility, and the development of the sector in the UAE. She added that the committee postponed its discussion on the topic, so it might review more technical studies and discuss the committee’s working plan.
