Turkey and PA to confront Israeli attempts to change the status quo in Jerusalem

By Jasmin Rasheed -- THE LEVANT NEWS EXCLUSIVE -- Palestinian well informed sources told The Levant News that in recent days Turkey is coordinating its attempts to obtain foothold in the Aqsa Mosque with the PA. For example, recently, Turkish security elements met in Ramallah with members of the Palestinian security apparatuses to discuss coordination of defensive activity of the al Aqsa Mosque in view of Jewish intentions to take advantage of their holidays and hold more visits on the Temple Mount and thus defile the holy place. These intentions were revealed on July 26, when representatives of the Israeli regime came to the Aqsa Mosque and the Occupation forces closed Muslim worshippers inside the mosque.
The PA and the Turkish regime urge Israel to close, for the Jewish Holidays, the Mughrabi Gate for the passage of extremist Jews and stop illegal construction and digging works endangering the mosque.
The same sources said that the coordination between the PA and the Turks was established in May 2015, during the meeting between the Turkish Minister of Waqf and Religious Affairs, Dr. Ghurmaz, and the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas. The Turkish Minister was invited by the Palestinian Minister of Waqf and Religious Affairs, YousefAd'is. The two distinguished people prayed together at al Aqsa Mosque and Dr. Ghurmaz delivered the Friday sermon while the Turkish flag was flying over him.
As part of the tightened relations, the PA assists Turkey in showing ownership of property located on the Temple Mount; and the Turks, using the Ramallah-based TIKA association (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency), launch projects on the Temple Mount and the Old City of Jerusalem, including distribution of coupons to the inhabitants for the procurement of business and restoration of buildings.
The sources welcomed the assistance of the Turkish Government during the recent Ramadan in introducing thousands of Iftar meals and sending delegations for visits at the Temple Mount. The sources noted that they attach great importance to increased awareness and support of additional Islamist elements for the blessed efforts to protect the al Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem from the Israeli and Jewish inhabitants' violent acts.
