The 5th Annual Conference of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies continued discussing means to establish a new global approach to promote values of virtue and compassion.
The three-day Forum, which opened Wednesday in Abu Dhabi, is held under the theme “Alliance of Virtues An Opportunity for Global Peace”.
Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah, President of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, welcomed the participants to the second day of the Forum, and highlighted the significance of holding it in Abu Dhabi, in the ‘Year of Zayed’.
“It is a great honour that this important forum is held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of tolerance, co-existence and peace, the land of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and in the ‘Year of Zayed’,” he said.
Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah said since 2017, the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies had made many achievements, including the Encyclopedia of peace, the first part of which will be published in early 2019.
The day also saw Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Education and Knowledge Department and Member of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi, speaking about the Muslims and citizenship.
Some 800 representatives of various religions, international human rights organisations, and a wide range of scholars, thinkers and researchers worldwide are taking part in the forum.
