Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Passes Away

The Royal Court has announced that Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, 86, passed away on Thursday.

The funeral prayers will be performed following evening regular prayers at the Grand mosque in Makkah on Friday.

The former deputy  defense minister passed away after a struggle with disease and a long journey in the political field.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman received cables of condolences and phone calls from Arab leaders and officials including King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He also received cables of condolences from Bahraini Prime Minister Khalifa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa and Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, also received similar cables from Bahrain’s Prime Minister Khalifa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa, and Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.

Born in 1931 in Riyadh, Prince Abdulrahman enrolled in one of the schools in California, a school that delivers high-school curriculum and a special program to prepare students for military universities.

He graduated from the military academy in Saint Diego before receiving a Bachelor in Economy from the University of California.

He started his activity in the political life in 1983 as a deputy minister of defense and aviation until 2011 when he was exempted from his position.
