Pentagon warns Syria not to fly planes near coalition troops

The Levant News — The Pentagon warned Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his ally Russia on Monday of its readiness to shoot down planes threatening US-led coalition forces in northern Syria, without going so far as to define it as a no-fly zone. This comes after the Assad regime targeted Kurdish forces in the city of Hasakah last week, forcing the US military to scramble aircraft to protect its special operations ground forces.

Meanwhile, the Russian military said Monday that its strikes in Syria, conducted from the Iranian air base at Hamdan, had been completed. Moscow, however, left open the possibility of using the base again.
