Khamenei warns US presidential candidates to preserve nuclear deal

Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned US presidential candidates not to mess with the nuclear deal, officially the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or he would “set fire to it.” “We don’t violate JCPOA, but if [the] other side violates it, as US presidential candidates are threatening to tear it apart, we’ll set fire to it,” Khamenei’s office tweeted in English on the occasion of Ramadan. Khamenei also backed Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who recently told the incoming parliament that US hostility toward Iran will not end. Khamenei tweeted, yet again in English, “Mr. Zarif has said nature of US has not changed [after #JCPOA], and it is very true.”
