Earthquake shakes UAE buildings

Buildings shook in the UAE after a magnitude-5.6 tremor struck 30 miles off the coast of Kish Island early morning on Wednesday.

UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has registered an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 on Richter scale which hit South Iran, around 300km from Abu Dhabi this morning, reported WAM.

A mild tremor was felt in the different parts of the UAE, the NCMS added.

The US Geological Survey (usgs) reported the mild quake hit close to the Iranian island at around 5am UAE time.

Residents reported being woken up by the tremor and took to social media about the temblor as dawn was breaking.

“My building shook back and forth,” a resident with the handle @LaurenDoble twitted.
