Bahrain suspends leading opposition

The Levant News — A court in Bahrain suspended the country’s main Shiite bloc, Al-Wefaq, pending a verdict on dissolving it altogether. The group is led by cleric Ali Salman, currently serving a nine-year term jail on charges of inciting violence. Al-Wefaq’s offices have been closed and its assets frozen. The court’s decision follows an official ministry request to take action against the group, which is accused of illegal activity and offering a haven for “terrorism, radicalization and violence.”
